Accessibility Statement

Smite Termite & Pest Control LLC wants smitepest.com to work for everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard most often used to measure website accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and we test our pages against it.

What we’ve done

• Color contrast: text, form field borders, focus outlines, and meaningful icons are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and interface parts). Links inside paragraphs are underlined so they don’t rely on color alone.
• Keyboard access: menus, the service tabs, FAQs, the mobile menu, and the quote form work with a keyboard. There’s a “Skip to content” link, a visible focus outline, and page scrolling that keeps the focused item clear of the sticky header and mobile call bar.
• Screen readers: headings and landmarks structure every page, form fields have labels, required fields are marked in text, and error messages are announced and tied to their fields.
• Motion: the homepage video has a pause button and doesn’t autoplay when your device is set to reduce motion. Other animations turn off with that setting too.
• Zoom and reflow: pages work at 200% zoom and down to 320-pixel-wide screens without sideways scrolling, and form fields are sized so phones don’t zoom in unexpectedly.
• High contrast mode: selected options stay visible in Windows High Contrast (forced colors) mode.
• Plain language: short sentences and clear headings throughout.

How we test

Last tested October 6, 2026: automated checks (axe-core, WCAG 2.1 A and AA rules) on every page at desktop and phone widths, measured color contrast against the real page backgrounds, and manual keyboard testing of menus, tabs, and forms. We re-test when we add or change pages.

Known limitations

• The homepage video is a muted 52-second clip from our Instagram. It shows Bryce treating a home’s exterior, then two people talking in front of a house, with on-screen text listing our services (pest, rodent, termite, bee and bird control), “No contract needed!”, “No stone unturned!”, our phone number, and our Instagram name. The sound has been removed, so there is nothing to caption, and this description covers all of the on-screen text. Use the button in its corner to pause it.
• Some links go to third-party sites (such as Yelp and Instagram) whose accessibility we don’t control.
• Testing has been done in Chromium-based browsers. If something doesn’t work in your browser or assistive technology, please tell us.
